When J.S.Bach composed his solo violin Partita N.2 in D minor, he surprised everybody with the last movement Ciaccona. Not only with its length, which is almost equal to the other four movements of the Partita together, but also because it reveals a very different, dramatic and almost macabre mood, unusual for the character of chaconne as known at that time. One of the speculations today is, that the last movement of this solo partita was composed after Bach has experienced a personal tragedy. His first wife died and the Ciaccona is believed to be a tombeau in her memory.

Inspired by this hypothesis we decided to join this music with dance and bring into space dialogue between a solo violin and a sollo dancer. We felt there is a strong paralel between the whole partita and the powerful motif of Dance Macabre, which for us is not just a complex reminder of our transience but also a celebration of life.
